Jacques Derome is a Professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, McGill University. His current interests are the dynamics and predictability of climate variability on the seasonal to interannual time-scale. From 1994 through 2001 he was the Principal Investigator of the Canadian Climate Variability Research (CLIVAR) Group, and then of the Canadian CLIVAR Network (2001-2006). He is directly involved in the Historical Forecasting Project (HFP), whose goal is to test the skill of global numerical models in predicting mean-seasonal conditions. In addition, he has published widely on the relationship between sea surface temperature anomalies and the main modes of Northern Hemisphere atmospheric variability on the seasonal to interannual time-scale.
