Paul Myers is an Associate Professor, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Alberta. His background is in regional ocean modelling and ocean model development. At present, his main research focus is in the high latitude North Atlantic, where he has developed a regional model of the sub-polar gyre, aiming to examine questions related to freshwater transport (including its links to the Arctic), water mass formation and dispersal, and their variability. In developing the model, he has performed extensive studies to improve the models representation of topography and of unresolved mesoscale eddies. He is the Vice President of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
